Just What is a Meetup Organizer?

Well, obviously, the Meetup Organizer organizes the Meetup group.  The main responsibility of the organizer is to pay organizer dues.  These dues are not the sole responsibility of the organizer; but are generally shared by the group.  Here are the average dues:

There are three plans (all prices in USD):
  • $12/month for 6 months (a single $72 charge)
  • $15/month for 3 months (a single $45 charge)
  • $19/month for the month-to-month billing option

Organizers also schedule the Meetups, communicate with members, and organize the Meetups in general.  One thing Tootsie Roll and I would like to pursue as the new organizers of the Pug Meetup group is to find a local sponsor.  What is the purpose of a local sponsor?  Well, that business could provide discounts to the Meetup members, prizes for special events the Meetup group hosts, treats for the pugs...etc...Here is a link with more advice on local sponsorship for your Meetup group:

And what are the top things a new organizer should do?

-Update profile
-Schedule a Meetup
-Spread the word

Our Meetup groups is pretty specific - pugs and their owners.  Why do we Meetup...to watch our pugs play?  Could we do more?  I think so...that will be my topic tomorrow.  For now, I will leave you with the other pet/animal Meetup groups that are in a 10 mile radius of Indianapolis:

-Downtown Dog Walk
-Great Dane, Dachshund and French Bulldogs
-Great Dane Rescue
-Dog Scouts
-Pet Lovers for Happy, Healthy Pets
