Time Heals...

Tootsie Roll's Stitches and Drain
Yesterday afternoon we were not sure what shape our pug was in.  It had been a normal Sunday.  A walk up for coffee, some errands and plans for a quick lunch at a dog friendly place...That is where things went bad.  Being a nice day, people were coming out for a bite to eat with their dogs.  Things were calm as a few couples found seats and a new lady walked up with her dog...Lucille and Tootsie greeted her and the dog went to say hi to someone else.  On the dogs way back through she turned on Tootsie and bit into her back leg.  Things happened very quickly and before I knew it we were in the truck on the way to the emergency vet.

On the way there I am trying very hard not to freak out.  Too much runs through your mind.  We knew it was a puncture wound, that I could deal with.  What we did not know was if there was anything internal...

Thank You, Circle City Vet Hospital!!

Being a Sunday late afternoon we had to go to the emergency vet which is located on the other side of the city.  It took a long time to get there, but when we arrived we were quickly taken care of and Tootsie was walking away with a really sweet vet tech. for her surgery.  With about two hours to wait, the humans and Lucille try to find something to eat and sit in the warm sun inside the truck.  Before we know it Tootsie Roll is awake and ready to go home.  No internal injuries and only one bite...not the typical two bites a vet would suspect.  And the bite went in at the fold of her back leg...missing her belly and any muscles.  Hooray!

As happy as we all were, the yukky images of the afternoon fight kept running through our heads and of course the made-up images of how horrible it really could have been.  Yeah, this is when it sucks to be human...we think way too much!  Tootsie Roll on the other hand was way out of it...in a scary kind of way.  I made arrangements to stay home the next day and we made the bed as comfortable for the sleep  we were going to get.

So let's fast forward to this morning...the alarm goes off for the hu"man" to get up...I have been laying there a good part of the night wondering what state of mind Tootsie Roll will wake up in...Amazing how time does heal!  She is ready to get out of bed, have some breakfast with Lucille and go potty!  Okay, now I feel way better.

Healing and Resting in the Warm Spring Sun

It was a perfect spring day...warm and sunny.  Tootsie Roll and I spent a good portion of it sitting and sleeping in the comfort of the sun!  Time is an amazing healer of all kinds of wounds....

So now the day is coming to an end.  I am blogging, Tootsie Roll is on her comfy pillow top, kitties are sleeping, Lucille is on the floor behind me...Dinner for the humans will be ready soon.  Thank you time for healing us.  Thank you people at the restaurant for acting so quickly...I don't know what any of us did, but it was the right things.  Thank you vet hospital for taking care of our Tootsie Roll.  And we are all so looking forward to the fact that with the passage of time...tomorrow will be just another day.  PEACE!
